Seeking job applicants for the position of Secretary to Board of Commissioners for Joint Fire Protection District Ferry County 3 and Stevens County 8. Please email a request for Full Job Description or send a Resume and/or to schedule an interview to jfpd38office@gmail.com.

Position requires 20-30 hours per month, workday is Thursdays, with possible other days of the week.  Pay to be negotiated.

Qualification requirements:  3 -5 years’ experience in bookkeeping/accounting, College degree not required but recommended, being efficient in Excel and Word a must.  Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals.  Ability to write reports, correspondence and procedure manuals.  An ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from the public and Fire District personnel.  Ability to carry out self-supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the district policies and applicable laws.  Project an image of professionalism through appearance, cooperation, compatibility, punctuality, and enthusiasm.  Computer skills are essential as well as being willing to learn.

This ballot is to renew our current medical levy, this is not a new tax.

Stevens County Fire Protection District No. 8

Stevens County Fire Protection District No. 8 is seeking volunteers for For or Against Committees regarding our request for replacement emergency medical services Levy to be voted on April 22, 2025.  This proposition will authorize a regular emergency medical services property tax levy of am amount not to exceed $0.50 per $1,000 of assessed valuation for each of six consecutive years beginning in 2025 and for collection in 2026 to provide funding for emergency medical services.

Those interested in serving are asked to indicate whether they are for or against and submit a brief statement as to why they are For or Against by February 25th.

…RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM WEDNESDAY TO 11 PM PDT THURSDAY FOR WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR WASHINGTON COLUMBIA BASIN…PALOUSE…AND SPOKANE AREA…

The National Weather Service in Spokane has issued a Red Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from 1 PM Wednesday to 11 PM PDT Thursday. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.

Affected Area: Fire Weather Zone 673 East Washington Northern Columbia Basin (Zone 673) and Fire Weather Zone 674 East Washington Palouse and Spokane Area (Zone 674).

Winds: Southwest 10 to 15 mph with gusts to 25 mph. Localized gusts as high as 35 mph on the Waterville Plateau.

Relative Humidities: 7 to 14 percent Wednesday and in the valleys and 14 to 19 percent Thursday.

Impacts: Increased wind and low relative humidity will potentially increase fire spread potential of new or existing fires.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now….or will shortly. A combination of strong winds…low relative humidity…and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

Fire levy 2019 passes

District 8 (Stevens County) passes new six year fire levy. (Proposition 1)

The votes were 192 for and 47 against.

Thank you District 8 for continuing to support your firefighters and EMTs!
